Ernie Strong with Son Michael at Texas Tech Football Game

Janet and I traveled from Tucson to Lubbock for the first TX Tech football weekend of the season. We had several reasons. Our son, Michael, and his wife Jessica both graduated from Texas Tech and live in Lubbock. Michael owns his own IT business and also works part-time as a pro photographer for the Tech Athletic Department. Our daughter, Kelly, and her husband, Eric, also graduated from Texas Tech. Eric had played in the Tech marching band and wanted to attend the Band Alumni reunion that weekend. Of course, Janet and I would also get to see our grand kids, Tyler and Hailey.

Michael is on a first-name basis with the new football coach, Tommy Tuberville. He arranged for Janet and me to meet the coach for a chat and photo session. "Tubs", as he is called in Lubbock, signed a football for us saying "War Eagle" and "Guns Up". Michael also arranged a photo press pass for me and we enjoyed shooting the game together. (See the photo of us loaded down with some of our photo gear.)

It will be hard to top that weekend. BTW, Tubs kicked off the first "Raider Walk" with the team and it was a huge success! Oh, yes... Tech beat SMU.
