Jim Hutcheson
I retired from the Muscogee County School District after 34 years and worked for Troy University-Ft. Benning as Program Coordinator. More recently, I have slipped into 'semi-retirement'. I have ended my full-time employment with Troy University and now teach one class per week. Most of my day has been filled with Tennis (M-W-F), visits to the gym (T-TH). I get in several hours frequently flyrod fishing if the weather permits. I live 124 steps from my front door to the edge of the first of three ponds! I am averaging 6-10 fish per visit, so there is a strong pull to return the next day. I am active with my civic group (Rotary) and serve as the club webmaster.
My wife, Carol, has retired from serving as a principal of a middle school in Columbus. She maintains her Board seat with the Red Cross and an Advisory Committee with the School of Education at Auburn. Most of her time is spent reading. Our son, Matt, is a department chairman in a mental health health hospital in Birmingham.

Chuck Hunt

Charles Hunt '66 After "Anchor Clanker" training at AU, I stayed in the U. S. Navy for the shortest time possible! Today I am semi-retired following a career both in the process industry and selling equipment and services to it. My wife Judith became a cancer survivor two years ago. We have two sons. Matthew is in his 3rd year as a neuro-surgery resident at the University of Oregon in Portland. He's getting married to a wonderful woman the week after the FIJI reunion. Joel is a training and development executive with Bank of America in Chicago. For kicks I enjoy going to Chicago Cubs ball games with my sons, exploring ancient Anasazi ruins in northern New Mexico and Colorado with my wife as well as playing some really terrible golf. I am looking forward to renewing some former relationships with some "old-time" brothers at the reunion. I wonder if Jim "Moon" Sims ever returned from his forced trip to Columbus and if Sid Bufkin still has his duck-call!

Oliver Kingsley
Oliver D. Kingsley, Jr '66

is retired as President and Chief Operating Officer of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation. During his tenure at Exelon, he also served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Exelon Generation. Exelon consists of 28 companies offering a variety of energy, telecommunications, engineering and construction services in 48 states. From October 2000 through February 2002, Oliver was President and Chief Nuclear Officer of Exelon Nuclear, which operates ten stations (17 reactors) with a capacity of 17,000 MW. Oliver was also Chairman of the Management Committee of AmerGen Energy Company, a partnership between Exelon and British Energy, which owns and operates nuclear plants. Oliver joined Unicom, the parent company of Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) in November 1997 as president and chief nuclear officer of its Nuclear Generation Group, then the largest nuclear program in the United States. Before joining ComEd, Oliver served as chief nuclear officer of the Nuclear Generation Group at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), which has five nuclear units at three sites. His leadership is largely credited with the turnaround of the TVA nuclear program, and the success and reputation for excellence enjoyed by the program. From 1971 to 1984 he held various positions in the nuclear area of the Southern Company including Plant Manager of the Farley Nuclear Plant, assistant manager of Nuclear Generation, manager of Nuclear Engineering & Technical Support and director of Nuclear Support. From 1985 to 1988, Oliver served as vice president, Nuclear Operations for Middle South Utilities.

In June 2000 he was awarded the Walter Zinn Award of the American Nuclear Society, recognizing his leadership in nuclear power. In 2003, Oliver received the World Association of Nuclear Operators Excellence Award, the international nuclear industry's highest honor. He was one of only six world nuclear professionals – and the only American – to be so honored. In 2004, he was inducted into the Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame. In 2007, he completed a two-year term as President of the World Association of Nuclear Operators and serves on the Board of Directors of Florida Power and Light Group as well as McDermott International. He is one of only three Auburn alumni to have ever been named to the National Academy of Engineering. He currently serves as the Leadership Team Chair for Auburn's Samuel Ginn School of Engineering. In May, 2007, The National Energy Institute cited Oliver as the recipient of the annual William S. Lee award for distinguished nuclear service. It is the highest award given in the United States for work in civilian nuclear power.

Oliver graduated from Auburn in 1966 with a bachelor of sciencedegree in engineering physics with honors. From 1966 to 1971 he served as an officer in the United States Navy Nuclear Submarine Force. He is married to Sally Yeaman Kingsley. They have four children and five grandchildren. They reside in Birmingham, Alabama.

Ernie Strong

Ernie Strong '66 (second from right, with son-in-law Eric (far left), daughter Kelly, wife Jane, and son Michael) After graduating from Auburn with an MS EE in '68, Ernie married Janet Sibley (Auburn Pi Beta Phi) and joined Texas Instruments in Dallas. He has worked as a system engineer on guided missiles, most notably Harpoon, Javelin and Paveway, the laser-guided bombs seen on the TV news. In 1997-98, Raytheon bought the missile businesses from TI, Hughes and General Dynamics and consolidated the programs and about 10,000 employees in Tucson. Janet had been a wonderful homemaker in Dallas, but she agreed to move to the Tucson desert so Ernie could continue his career with Raytheon. Eric is an Assistant VP at Guaranty Bank; Kelly (26), a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, works as Activity Director for Kingwood Village, a Methodist retirement community, in Houston. Michael (22), a Senior at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, works as the Web/Server Administrator for an ISP company and does PJ photography for the Texas Tech Media Department.

Ernie learned photography at Auburn working for the Glomerata, the Plainsman and the FIJI chapter. "The photography assignments allowed me to attend activities and meet many people on the campus. I remember, Jim Gideon tutored me in basic darkroom processing techniques at the Glomearta office. Oh, the wonderful smell of Dektol and Fixer in the morning! Photography has been a great creative outlet over the years. Janet and I operated a part-time photography business for about 20 years in Dallas, doing product brochures, portraits, parties and kids sports/teams."

"FIJI's make long-time relationships. My sister, Lillian (Auburn Kappa Alpha Theta), is still happily married to Roy Norris after 36 years. Janet and I have enjoyed 34 years of marriage.

Richard Shelton '66
"After returning from Vietnam, I spent most of my career in textiles and mostly within a 100 mile radius of Greenville, S. C. where my wife Sharon (a second grade teacher) and I have lived since 1988. She has two Masters Degrees (Furman University) and is National Board certified while I continued in the 'school of hard knocks' where I have yet to graduate. I retired three years ago as President and CEO of a German textile firm which afforded me much European travel and a great education. Six months ago I was recruited to help an owner of a construction tool sales and rental company turn the company around and hopefully to grow. We buy used equipment such as “BLT on White” (bending, lifting, threading and welding), recondition it at our plant here and then sell or rent to large construction projects such as electric power plants and oil refineries. It has been a struggle, but with God’s divine intervention, we will get the needed sales.

We are very active in our church and enjoy several weekly Bible study classes. God has blessed us richly and we have prospered. My daughter Lisa lives in Montgomery where she works with PYA-Monarch (after struggling through Clemson). She is married, but no grandchildren yet. I love golf and travel so call and come up. We have plenty of room and a good course."
