Bernhardt '63 After graduating with a degree in Interior Design, I worked for ten years in Birmingham in residential and commercial design. During that time I met and married Jeanette Comer in 1964. Two years later we had a son, Kevin Karl, who lives in Concord, New Hampshire with his wife and two children. We enjoy Jack, 8, and Julia, 4, when we are able to get up there. We plan to make more frequent visits after we retire at the end of this year. Jeanette will retire from The State University of West Georgia and I from Hospice Care, an affiliate of Tanner Health System in Carrollton, Georgia where I have been the Volunteer Coordinator--recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers who work with our patients or in the office. Between my designing career and hospice career I earned teacher certification from Clemson University while Jeanette taught nursing there. After moving to Carrollton I earned a Masters in Early Childhood Education from West Georgia College, now The State University of West Georgia. I taught school for thirteen years in Carroll County, then sold real estate until I joined Hospice Care. I have had a variety of jobs which have been enjoyable, so work never got boring. When it did, I changed careers. Phi Gam Days--While at Auburn I was a charter member of Alpha Upsilon, chairman of the first Pig Dinner and "big brother" to three fine brothers: Mac Butler, Bill Lardent, and Bobby Wiggins. I remember the chapter was so poor that Dr. Hauser (Purple Legionnaire) had to pay for a box of cigars for the brothers and guests. The Pig Dinner was held at the only motel in town, The Heart of Auburn Motel, which was very nice and only a few years old. While living in Clemson I was a chapter advisor for Chi Alpha, a new chapter of Phi Gamma Delta, for about two years. |

Maddox '63 (far right, with his two daughters, son-in-law, and granddaughter), says: "After being schooled by the AU brothers in '62-'63, journeyed north and east and south for Caterpillar for 35 years. Late in those years,'93-'98,as Fiji Section Chief in Illinois, was a singular pleasure only surpassed by being a charter member at AU and Beta Pi at Bradley. After 40 years, am convinced there's nothing sweeter than brotherhood and I'm mighty proud to be a FIJI!!" |

Osborne '63 After graduating in March '63 Viv and I joined Kurt Salmon Associates (KSA) a specialist consulting firm specializing in apparel, textile and retail industries. We spent eight years moving between assignments in the Carolinas, New Jersey, Chicago, Knoxville, and New Orleans. Along the way Doug, Avivi, and Kiev were born. We then settled in Atlanta and I progressed through management with KSA to the managing board where I had responsibility for the operations practice. We added James to the family as Viv shouldered major responsibility for the family due to my frequent travel. Viv and I traveled to many areas of the world and visited Ken and Jessie Key in Hawaii, Korea and Germany. After twenty years in Atlanta I retired from KSA and joined a German client, Hugo Boss, as VP of operations for the US. We moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Viv built a beach house during her winter escapes to a favorite family vacation spot in Alligator Point, Florida.
About this time three of the kids graduated from Auburn and one from Viv lived with me in Costa Rica as we built a home in Tallahassee. We are now fully retired living between Tallahassee and Alligator Point. Doug, Kiev and James along with Doug's wife and two boys live in Atlanta. Our daughter, Avivi Behel, her husband and two daughters live in Auburn. We are always busy with family and friend visits and get away travel. |
